In Memoriam: Meghan Andrews
It is with great sadness that Lycoming College shares the passing of Meghan Andrews, Ph.D., associate professor of English, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Dr. Andrews came to Lycoming in 2015 as an assistant professor after earning an A.B. at Brown University and an M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin. In 2019, she received Lycoming’s Junior Faculty Teaching Award. Her expertise was in Shakespeare and Renaissance drama, and numerous publications and supporting grants in those areas along with exceptional teaching led to her earning tenure and promotion to associate professor in 2021. In the words of Sascha Feinstein, Ph.D., Robert L. and Charlene Shangraw professor of English and creative writing and chair of the English department: “Those who knew Meghan Andrews, who died yesterday at 36, will forever have a spiritual challenge to live fully and to eschew self-pity…It is startling how trenchant grief can be even when tragedy has been so telegraphed. But this will dissipate, I’m sure, as those who knew her indulge in the deluge of fabulous memories that Meghan created in her short time with us. Hers is a dazzling spirit to be revered.”
